New: Antonio Allessandria: Night-time Scents of Seduction

Image
Antonio Alessandria's artisan fragrances are handmade in Italy using only the finest ingredients. The idea for his first three compositions came from the mystery of the power of the moon. From its scientific gravitational pull on the tides, to its supposed pull on our emotions and the notion that it affects our moods. Further intrigued by the potency and ultra-sensuality of night-blooming flowers, Alessandria began composing his lunar olfactory poems. Fleurs et Flammes,   Alessandria's most recent scent, expands on the nocturnal theme. This truly is a remarkable collection which has us all at Roullier White enraptured. The heady and intoxicating heart notes of night blooming tuberose, jasmine, ylang-ylang and osmanthus at the centre of Antonio Alessandria’s Nacre Blanche  are countered by a delicate sparkle of bergamot, grapefruit, tangerine, petitgrain and hint of coriander. Antonio Alessandria distinctive basenotes include his signature leather,

Paul Schütze: The True Art of Fine Fragrance

Image
As an artist Paul Schütze is one of the few to work in the medium of scent. Captivated by the notion of capturing the ephemeral, his collection of three scents are olfactory snapshots of three fleeting moments, three otherwise lost memories. Paul Schütze eschews the traditional perfume making pyramid in favour of a layered artwork, a cleverly and immaculately constructed narrative. We are thrilled Paul has asked us to share these stories at Roullier White. Tears of Eros  references a night in the artist's studio in Paris. Incense embers lay amongst discarded clementine skins by a potted hyacinth, a draft from the open window wrapped the aromas in a chilly embrace. Fragrance Notes Ambergris, Benzoin, Cardamom, Cedar, Incense, Green Clementine, Guaiac Wood, Hyacinth, Labdanum, Orris, Pink Pepper Buy Tears of Eros Behind the Rain describes the aroma released from blasted conifers lining a beach in Greece, as the rain subsides the air

Supplier Spotlight: Duralex: From 1930 to 2016

Image
The adventure began in the 1930s. Saint-Gobain took over La-Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin factory, near Orleans that was formerly owned by a vinegar maker and later by a perfumer that produced their bottles there. A few years later, Saint-Gobain, a pioneer in the tempered glass technology, made its first attempts at adapting the process to the tableware production. In 1945, the Duralex brand was registered. After post-war reconstruction, the "thirty glorious years". France and Europe returned to prosperity. Households and institutions sought to buy modern, practical, well-designed and economical products. In the sixties and seventies, Duralex expanded and developed internationally. The brand and its products became familiar to millions of consumers worldwide. The internationalisation of markets, the emergence of new competitors... The 1990s were a difficult turning point. Saint-Gobain decided to sell Duralex to focus on its other businesses.  First owned by

Supplier Spotlight: Le Galion Parfume

Image
The name of this beautiful brand, inspired by majestic seafaring vessels with their vast square sterns, evoked thoughts of freedom and escape. Some of the beautiful fragrances associated with the brand have stayed in our memories:   Sortilège ,   Brumes ,   Snob ... But this once glorious perfume house, Le Galion, has faded from our memory and consigned to the past. Talented perfumer Paul Vacher became the owner of Le Galion in 1935, having bought the perfume house from its founder, Prince Murat. Having created fragrances for many prestigious houses including “Lanvin”, for whom he co-created Arpège, Rumeur, and Scandal with Andre Fraysse, he thought it was time to branch out on his own. In 1936, his perfume Sortilège became an immediate success and remains one of the jewels of the house. In the late 1930s, he followed up with Bourrasque, Brumes and the beautiful floral fragrances Iris and Tubéreuse. All of his fragrances were produced from the finest, natural, and raw ingre
