Y Viva España !

Y Viva España ! Happy Saturday! And it really is a happy one as we return to something approaching our former lives next week! My dear friend Jo recently invited us to her birthday celebrations in early June and we realised that some of our close-knit group have not seen each other since 2019! I shall not dwell on the past, but look forward to a wonderful summer of fun and friendship and even the odd hug - steady!  I had such a lovely day at the store last Saturday and thank you so much to those who visited me with words of encouragement - much appreciated! This w/e however, the Good Doctor is back from Hampshire so we are having a relaxing break at home, with friends joining us for brunch in the garden on Sunday. Finger's crossed that it stays dry - I cannot remember a worse spring for temperatures and we so deserve a lovely, long, hot summer! Never mind - onwards and upwards! My spirits soared this week when we received a telephone call to tell us that our new collection from S

Tutti Frutti, Sea Sponges, Soap On A Rope, Grape Lamps, Busy Bee Napkins & The Scents Of A Tropical Paradise! Good Morning! Well the weather is still a problem!! A less than balmy 16 degrees in London today and a friend tells me that it is currently 37 degrees where she is on Crete! She was moaning that it was too hot - rude! My lovely Murano glass 'Fruit' Chandelier arrived this week and I am very happy indeed. I lay in bed and marvel at the craftsmanship and, while I realise that it is not for everyone, I absolutely adore the joy of this piece and smile broadly every time that I turn on the light. That's what great design should do - make you glow with pleasure! My heartfelt thanks to Lori for re-awakening my passion for this beauty - I shall treasure it! I also wanted to say a quick thank you to another customer (the lovely Jane ), who after reading of our search for the perfect grey paint, took the time to visit me at the store this week to tell me of a wonderful

Everyone Loves A Rebel, Sumptuous, Tipping On Velvets, Vases From The Sea Floor, California Dreaming & Going Dutch! Good Morning! Have you had a good week? Once again the British weather has kept us guessing - last weekend it was glorious in the sunshine, but on Monday it turned positively Arctic in the breeze and it feels more like November than May! Never mind - perhaps it will be a slow clime this year and then we shall have months and months of radiance! Shop Now - Recipe Book - Rebel Recipes By Niki Webster - £26.00 Our garden party was a huge success - the GD was a calm and organised host (this bodes well for us!), producing two fantastic platters of vegan fare from 'Rebel Recipes',  a favourite tome that was actually recommended by a customer. Both dishes not only tasted divine but looked truly breath-taking. Add to this a choice of two deserts (orange and almond tart/blueberry cheesecake) and our guests were both sated and extremely happy! It felt wonderful and sl

Aristocratic Tea Cups, Diamonds Are Forever, Lacquered Pawns, Fat Fish, Sand-Blasted Peonies, Stepped Vases & Holey Jugs! Hallo iedereen! I am using a Dutch greeting this morning in gratitude, as the Netherlands has provided so much inspiration this week! How are we all doing? We are in a strange land at the moment, neither locked-down nor free, but it is certainly feeling a lot better to see smiling faces. I am greeted so heartily every day and respond with enthusiasm although, if I am honest, I find that facemasks rather obscure identity and I not always sure whom I am addressing! I am delighted to see everyone, so I don't suppose it really matters (plus I think peering at people is a little disconcerting!). I went to retrieve Lola's ashes this week - I hadn't felt quite up to the task, but the thought of her on a shelf at the Vet was beginning to eat away at me. She is now ensconced at home in a beech urn, which is surprisingly attractive - rather fitting as she wa
