A Visit To Sweden & Practical Styling

A Visit To Sweden & Practical Styling This week, Roullier White's store manager Lene and I travelled to Stockholm to meet with the cream of Scandinavian design! Sweden's capital is magnificent and the architecture really gets one in the mood to discover artisans with a penchant for sharp, clean aesthetics!  We were not disappointed and found fantastic leathers from Denmark, rich velvets from Sweden and the most talented potter from Latvia, among many outstanding young craftsmen and women. Our Autumn offer is going to be stunning and I am so excited to unveil new talent - so watch this space!! When we returned there were, as ever, some boxes on my desk and I tore into them with my usual gusto. Inside were three of my favourite finds this year - products that are problem solving yet beautiful and, in my opinion, the very best of their kind on the market. The Psychologist Of Scent !

The Psychologist Of Scent ! Earlier this year I was working at the store when a very tall gentleman arrived and introduced himself as perfumer Spyros Drosopoulos, founder of fragrance house 'Baruti' ( which is Greek for Gunpowder). He was in London to present a gong at The Art & Olfaction Awards and wanted to check out Roullier White as he had heard great things. As we talked it emerged that this half Greek, half Dutch, self taught nose, is in fact a neuropsychologist by profession which had me hooked immediately! I find the psychology of scent a fascinating topic - why do we like a certain fragrance or note? What draws us to one smell and not another and why can a smell transport us through time and space with such emotional pull? Who better, I thought, to take us on an emotionally perfumed journey than this man?! Fortunately for me, Spyros had brought some samples of his fragrances with him and first out of the bag was  'Chai'

Homeward Bound !

Homeward Bound ! Feeling rather ebullient after 10 days of indulgence in France - especially loved visiting Nimes for the first time( thank you persuading me Emma) and marvelling at its sensational Roman Amphitheatre and brand new Museum  - an architectural triumph that looks like it is wrapped in a toga! Wending my way homeward today with the touch of sadness that always comes when leaving a place that you love. Still, I have Stockholm to look forward to and apparently some of my new orders have begun arriving at the store so I am most excited. Have just popped passport into my 'Travel Wallet' - something that has changed the way that I travel as no-longer panic looking for passport/ boarding pass/euros/keys etc. etc. because they are always to hand and together. I also like it at check-in because one doesn't have to keep searching in bags for the aforementioned travel accoutrement. I have it in black but we also carry in a fantastic orange or a v
