It is a lame cliché which does not do this remarkable perfume justice - but it has to be said - Ben Gorham's Byredo Sunday Cologne is a classic cologne fragrance with a twist. The scent reminds me of a white-tiled art deco New York Bathroom, a pile of fluffy cotton towels, chrome taps, misted mirrors, a bone toothbrush and a badger shaving brush on a beveled glass shelf. Where, of course, this elegant bottle would look perfectly at home. Or being the first customer of the day in a 1950's barbers in backstreet Rome. A crisp morning after a night of rain, as the sleepy city wakes up a radio crackles in the background. An invigourating splash of scent on just shaved skin.

Sunday Cologne is a clean, fresh modern fragrance with  an underlying sense of style and tradition.

Uplifting and pleasing, Sunday Cologne has a triumvirate of notes at the top, middle and base. An initial burst of bright bergamot, sparkles with spicy star anise and cardamom. Lavender and geranium at the mauve core of this scent mingle with smoky grey incense. At the base rich moss and green vetiver have added passion with a sensual whisper of primal patchouli.

Bâtard Folding Picnic Knife by Lamson & Goodnow

As author of The Best Bread Ever; Charles Van Over is expected to show everywhere up with an armful of bread. Whilst Charles enjoys breaking bread with friends; he does insist that the bread is properly sliced with a breadknife, not just ripped apart. The problem here is that bread knives are very long and with their serrated edges they are not the easiest of things to carry around. Charles wondered why a folding bread knife could not be produced and took his idea for a pocket bread knife to Lamson & Goodnow, American manufacturers of the LamsonSharp range.
