Jack's Staff Picks
Jack Batchelor:
1. Benu - The Cookbook
Benu is more than a cookbook. It's an expression of the artistic integrity of the chef. The elegant and stylised photography throughout makes this book such a pleasure to flick through. David Chang has stated that Benu is the greatest restaurant in America, and the unique and simplistic beauty of their presentation give that claim some real weight.
2. Eight & Bob - Cap D'Antibes
When this fragrance landed at Roullier White earlier in the year I was instantly captivated and personally haven't been able to find a better scent . A fresh yet somewhat woody fragrance, Cap D'Antibes transports you to the golden age of the French Riviera through notes of Violet Leaf, Moss and Vanilla. The perfect everyday scent.
3. Andrea Maack - Coven
Or, if you're after a real showstopper, Coven is a fragrance that instantly subverts everything you knew about fragrance. One of the most bombastic openings I've come across, Coven is a statement scent, something to wear on a night out, or to simply warm you through the winter months. The opening of grass and green rhubarb is not for the faint of heart.
4. The Very Best of Dave Brubeck
My favourite Jazz Pianist. Brubeck changed the face of Jazz forever with his intoxicating and damn cool masterpiece, Take Five. However, this album is filled with older live performances, lesser known Brubeck tunes and a small collection from my personal favourite Brubeck album, Bossa Nova U.S.A. Can't deny his majesty when Brubeck starts playing in the shop.
5. Mrs White's Rejeanerator
What a revelation… Jeans that lose their colour and start to fade is a real problem with my wardrobe, however, a simple wash from Mrs White's Rejeanerator maintains the life of my denim. Not limited to jeans! Can also be used on your favourite denim jacket that's been hiding away all summer!
