Mrs White's: Kind to Sensitive Skin

To mark National Eczema week, we're taking a look at the symptoms and causes of this painful and irritating reaction, and giving you the low down on how to prevent its development in your home.

Also known as contact dermatitis, eczema is an affliction that affects up to 9% of the British public, which is just under six million people. Characterised by dry, itchy, and cracked skin, which can appear red and blotchy, a reaction is triggered when the skin comes in contact with everyday objects which contain irritating chemicals that aggravate the affected area. Most frequently occurring on the hands or face, mass produced domestic cleaners, cosmetics, and fragrances all contain potentially irritating components which can induce a reaction with frequent use. Solvents, soaps, detergents, and resins have all been found to be potentially harmful, as they frequently contain synthetic preservatives, heavy metals, or other irritating substances. This comes in the form of a number of everyday household items; from cosmetics and creams containing nickel, to hair dyes with phenylene diamine. Usually, eczema is treated with a prescribed dose of steroid cream, however if you experience any of these symptoms you should consult your doctor to advise you on the best course of action.

While we may not be able find a fool-proof cure for the condition, we believe that prevention is half the battle in stopping the spread of eczema. Here at Roullier White, the health of you and your family is our top priority, that's why our Mrs White's range uses no harsh, harmful, or synthetic chemicals in any of our home or body care products, and all our wonderful fragrances are entirely natural. Thanks to a loophole in the law, companies are not legally obliged to disclose the ingredients of their fragrances, and can simply use the word 'Fragrance' on the label of their products to stand in for up to 600 petrochemicals. We believe that customers should know what they are getting, that's why all our fragrances are derived from premium grad natural essential oils, and never from unnamed sources. That means you can enjoy our fabulous Mrs White's cleaners, lotions, candles, and even our fruit cake, knowing that your health is in safe hands!
