Ryder by Ex Idolo: Launch Party 30th September

Roullier White is delighted to announce that Ex Idolo's Matthew Zhuk will be joining us on the 30th of September for the launch of Ryder, his highly anticipated new fragrance. Having only released one scent previously, 2013's much celebrated Thirty Three, Zhuk has already been hailed as one of the hottest names in the industry. His daring, sophisticated compositions make use of unique and luxurious ingredients to create scents that embody the true essence of modern perfumery, with a skilful eye for construction and a fierce commitment to quality. Now based in Marylebone, London, Canadian born Zhuk hand crafts each of his exquisite fragrances using only the finest raw materials available. While his previous composition Thirty Three took its name from the thirty three year aged Oud that formed the body of the fragrance, Ryder features a highly rare Omani frankincense to achieve its unique and intoxicating aroma. The provenance of these fine ingredients ensures that no other perfume will smell like an Ex Idolo fragrance, making the compositions utterly unique whilst remaining fantastically wearable for everyday use. Not only that, Ex Idolo are among a growing number of perfumers dispensing with outdated 'masculine' and 'feminine' fragrance profiling, preferring to craft scents that can truly be worn by anyone.

With his new scent, Ryder, Zhuk looked to the old-world aesthetics of the private members clubs in London's historic West End. Taking its name from Ryder Street in St. James, the scent seeks to recreate the sensation of a boozy, cigar smoke filled clubhouse; all leather wingback chairs and rich mahogany wall panelling, the rustle of a broadsheet newspaper in the background. If turning such an evocative image into a thrilling olfactory sensation was Zhuk's goal, then it's safe to say he has achieved it with aplomb, garnering praise and plaudits from fragrance cognoscenti the world over.

Bâtard Folding Picnic Knife by Lamson & Goodnow

As author of The Best Bread Ever; Charles Van Over is expected to show everywhere up with an armful of bread. Whilst Charles enjoys breaking bread with friends; he does insist that the bread is properly sliced with a breadknife, not just ripped apart. The problem here is that bread knives are very long and with their serrated edges they are not the easiest of things to carry around. Charles wondered why a folding bread knife could not be produced and took his idea for a pocket bread knife to Lamson & Goodnow, American manufacturers of the LamsonSharp range. The Bâtard Folding Picnic knife is the result of this collaboration. At Roullier White we believe this may possibly be the best picnic knife ever made.
