Today I'm wearing Celtic Fire, a rich and smoky aromatic fragrance from the proudly British brand Union, inspired by the picturesque natural landscape of County Derry, Northern Ireland. Taking the somewhat untapped natural resources of the British Isles as their starting point, Union search the land high and wide to produce a series of fragrances with notes specific to a particular region, giving their scents a sense of unity and olfactory cohesion not found in other compositions. From the wilds of County Derry, nose Anastasia Brozler selected a plethora of resinous and woody pine notes, including balsam fir and fern to give Celtic Fire a distinctively green character that surprises with its robustness. A base of birch wood is complimented by local peat, which yields its curiously malty, dry and smoky character to produce a scent that is utterly idiosyncratic and elegantly wearable in the colder months.

Bâtard Folding Picnic Knife by Lamson & Goodnow

As author of The Best Bread Ever; Charles Van Over is expected to show everywhere up with an armful of bread. Whilst Charles enjoys breaking bread with friends; he does insist that the bread is properly sliced with a breadknife, not just ripped apart. The problem here is that bread knives are very long and with their serrated edges they are not the easiest of things to carry around. Charles wondered why a folding bread knife could not be produced and took his idea for a pocket bread knife to Lamson & Goodnow, American manufacturers of the LamsonSharp range.
