As a colour combination there are none more contentious than black and blue. We are not talking of the bold contrast of electric blue and black, made famous by Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s, but the subtle muted marriage with navy. So troubling is this pairing to some that there are discussions as to whether Ian Fleming made a typo when he described his Bond hero as sporting a dark blue suit with a black knitted tie.

Elegant and understated - pulled off perfectly here by Matches Fashion - black and navy is sartorially subversive enough to warrant a second look: an obvious bonus in the style stakes.

As author of The Best Bread Ever; Charles Van Over is expected to show everywhere up with an armful of bread. Whilst Charles enjoys breaking bread with friends; he does insist that the bread is properly sliced with a breadknife, not just ripped apart.
