The season is once again upon us, and once again we're faced with one of the hardest olfactory dilemmas of the year. With all those office parties, family gatherings, and general goings on during the festive season, it can be hard to find a scent that suits all occasions. The cold weather might make you yearn for something warming, but not everyone will appreciate that dark smokey scent you love. Lemon heavy colognes might have been just the ticket when you were lounging on a beach, but who wants to smell like a fruit tree when you're huddling round the fire? 1. Doe in the Snow, by 4160 Tuesdays
Clean, bright, and ever so slightly frosty, Doe in the Snow is the scent of "citrus fruits, flowers, and woods, stirred with an icicle" according to maker Sarah McCartney. With notes of Japanese yuzu and bracingly fresh peach aldehyde, the scent is an effervescent expression of style that matches perfectly with the chillier weather.












2. Brussels Sprouted, by Smell Bent
What would Christmas be without this ubiquitous little vegetable! Whilst the humble brussels sprout itself might not be everyone's cup of tea, this seriously sophisticated green fragrance is sure to find a special place in every scent lover's heart this holiday season. 3. Sienne L'Hiver, by Eau D'Italie

4. Bois Secret, by Evody
Creamy, spicy, and deeply comforting, Bois Secret from Evody perfectly embodies all that you would expect from a winter fragrance, yet taken to a higher level. Blending bergamot and black pepper in the top notes, its the heart of sandalwood and nutmeg that really sets this scent apart, with the warming, aromatic nutmeg instantly summoning the sense of the season.










5. Isos, by Farmacia SS. Annunziata
Similarly warming, yet with a markedly more assertive, 'spiky' character, Isos from Italian house Farmacia SS. Annunziata utilises fresh mint in the top notes and bracing juniper in the base to offset the otherwise heavy, warming nature of the scent. Aromatic cloves and a heart of myrrh make the fragrance a perfect fit for the christmas season.

Bâtard Folding Picnic Knife by Lamson & Goodnow

As author of The Best Bread Ever; Charles Van Over is expected to show everywhere up with an armful of bread. Whilst Charles enjoys breaking bread with friends; he does insist that the bread is properly sliced with a breadknife, not just ripped apart. The problem here is that bread knives are very long and with their serrated edges they are not the easiest of things to carry around. Charles wondered why a folding bread knife could not be produced and took his idea for a pocket bread knife to Lamson & Goodnow, American manufacturers of the LamsonSharp range. The Bâtard Folding Picnic knife is the result of this collaboration. At Roullier White we believe this may possibly be the best picnic knife ever made.
