Scandinavian Sophisticates
Buy Now - Swedish Salt/Pepper Grinder - £45

This week I have been ordering new designs like a man possessed and Lene has finally washed her hands of me! New fragrances from Australia, mohair from Spain( very carefully sourced I may add), architectural scarves from Amsterdam, corkscrews from Paris and art glass from Turkey are just a few of the new discoveries winging their way to East Dulwich for the Autumn and I am delighted by each and every one of them.

I was also thrilled by the arrival of our salt/pepper/spice grinders from Sweden which we found on our trip a couple of weeks ago. They are tall (20cm)and curvy and iconic in shape and the colours are sensational - a pale 'beechwood', a show-stopping 'orange' and 'white' to nestle into minimal kitchens perfectly. The grinding mechanism is the 'crush & grind' - a porcelain system that is reliable and hard wearing - and the design looks so elegant and iconic on the table.
Buy Now - Wool Plant Pot - £26
We also met with some really lovely and talented people who make, of all things, plant pots from 100% wool!!!  I know - it's the most amazing thing! Gorgeous, thick wool in wonderfully rich colours has been formed into sizeable, round pots and then the inside has been coated with rubber to make them water resistant. They look absolutely amazing, like the plants have got stylish winter jumpers on and I haven't seen anything like them. Soft and tactile they really make the most of the plant's form and colour and I think that they will cause a sensation in the industry with many imitators in  a year or so.
Buy Now - 'Night Time Carafe With Water Glass' - £20

I have been looking for a stylish, bedtime, water-carafe for eons! I currently take small bottles of water to bed, which is expensive and very ugly, so I was extremely pleased when we came upon a truly gorgeous example from a small family firm based in Denmark. The glass is super-fine, laboratory glass, so it almost disappears and the water glass that fits, inverted, over the top, to stop dust getting into the water and obviously to drink from, is a nice size so you can finish a full glass easily and not have to attempt to pour some back in the middle of the night! Minimal, practical, incredibly strong ( these will go in the oven, the microwave, the dishwasher etc)
and a thing of beauty!
Finally, to all those who ordered samples from my perfume collection 'St Giles' last week, I would like to say "thank you so much"!! I really hope that you are enjoying them - it has been great fun selling them at the store with 'The Writer' and 'The Actress' tied in first place. They are my babies so I love them equally and hope that the others get a little more attention this w/e !  I would like to send my very best wishes to the two beautiful brides who will be wearing 'The Actress' down aisle today - I am very proud!

I shall be spending my day off tackling the garden as it is looking a little sad and needs a bit of TLC before the cooler weather arrives - plus I need the exercise! On Sunday, the lovely Lene and I will be at a design exhibition in Kensington buying
more beautiful things!

Have a good one
