Raise Your Hands, Bowled Over & In A Pickle!

Raise Your Hands, Bowled Over & In A Pickle!
What a week! Paris was fantastic and we have found some really exciting pieces to dazzle you in the Spring! In my bid to source philanthropic pieces that not only please the eye but gladden the heart I am thrilled to report that we have found artisans still operating in Aleppo, Syria!!
Not only are they incredibly brave but wonderfully talented and we have soaps and lamps winging their way to us shortly!
If anyone is visiting the City Of Lights in the near future I would like to recommend the restaurant Hébé which is in the Latin Quarter near to Notre Dame. Only 4 months old it has taken Paris by storm; the food is wonderful and lives up the hype and please speak to the owner as he is utterly charming and will greet you like an old friend! Exceptional for vegetarians too.
Shop Now - Benamôr Hand Creams - £7.50
This week I am delighted to announce the arrival of my favourite hand creams. The Benamôr apothecary was founded in 1925 in Lisbon and uses many natural ingredients to make exceptionally efficacious beauty recipes. Their hand creams are the stuff of legend; one application and the skin feels kitten-soft even in these cold temperatures and best of all they are not greasy - the cream will soak into the epidermis in a matter of seconds! You only need a tiny squeeze so they last for ages.
I love the beautiful, original, Art Deco packaging and have selected the smaller size which is perfect for the pocket or bag. Choose from 3 scents - The original 'Alantoíne' which uses allantoin emollient to smooth, rebalance and protect, is quite amazing - instant results and a lovely fresh lemon scent, perfect for normal to dry skins. The other scents are 'Rose Amélie', named after the Queen of Portugal, and made with argan oil and infused with rose petals is great for normal skin. Finally we have 'Gordíssimo', the richest formula, which uses Shea Butter and is
ultra-nourishing with a slightly oriental fragrance.

The are incredible chic and hands need all the help that they can get at this time of year so don't neglect them!
Shop Now - Proving Bowl 5L - £49.95
I like a product to have an interesting provenance and history and so was excited to discover a Danish ceramics company making large 'proving' bowls, in the traditional design, for bread dough. Of coarse what the Scandinavians think of as traditional we consider to be modernism so these work brilliantly in a contemporary setting for salads, pasta, as a fruit bowl or for
bread-making and mixing.  They are impactful at 5 litres and have a smooth terracotta exterior with  a choice of 3 beautiful interior glazes - pale blue, pale grey and terracotta. They look like they belong in a Vermeer painting - you just need the pearl earring!
Shop Now - Pickling Jar 1L - £24
'Pickling' is a new gourmet activity sweeping our nation - I like the idea of this as it is about preserving things that are in season and also prevents food waste so I was thrilled that the same collection contains original ceramic Danish pickling jars. I decided that what the Danes don't know about pickling isn't worth considering so these must be the best of their kind!
I have chosen the 1 litre variety as they are easier to store and can be used for kitchen utensils or as vases when not full of pickled food. They are available in terracotta or anthracite so perfect for country or contemporary kitchens. I have found a very good apple chutney recipe that I shall be experimenting with this w/e - great with cheese, pork or chicken salad and on sandwiches etc
We all need to get pickling - rather than pickled obviously!
This week I am off to see La Boheme at the ENO and trying to sneak some more outstanding ceramic finds past the ever vigilant Lene !
My money is on her but one has to try!
Have a lovely w/e,
Michaelx
