  1. First, butter the inside of the cup adding flavour to the content. This also makes the clean up much easier.
  2. Now add spices, herbs, cheese, veg or meat of your choice, this can be done in layers or mixed.
  3. Crack an egg into the cup on top of the layers you've put in already.
  4. Repeat step 2.
  5. Secure the lid with the elastic ribbon.
  6. Partially immerse the egg coddler in boiling water for a few minutes. How long depends on how firm you like your eggs. (Soft : 8-9 minutes / Hard: 11 minutes or more).
  7. Carefully lift the porcelain from the water (caution hot, handle with care). Remove the lid,  and prepare yourself for an eggy delight.

Sweet Egg Coddler Usage
Chocolate sponge
25 g butter (room temperature)
2 tbsp cocoa
4 tbsp flour
4 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
1. Stir butter and cocoa thoroughly in a mixing bowl. Add sugar, vanilla sugar, egg and stir. Then add the flour and milk. Stir until the mixture has a creamy consistency and no lumps. Add more milk if necessary.
2. Pour into the four egg coddlers (butter them beforehand) and boil in water for about six minutes. That amount of time will result in a sort of 'chocolate lava cake'. If you prefer them less sticky, boil them a bit longer.
3. Let them cool off a bit and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Also goes well with strawberries, raspberries, mangos, etc.

Apple Coddler
1. Butter the inside. chop 1-2 apples in small pieces (need to be soft from the start otherwise need to boil longer).
2. Mix with 2 tsp brown sugar. Add cinnamon to liking. Place evenly in two Coddlers.
3. Add 2 tbsp vanilla yogurt (or vegan alternative) in each.
4. Boil for 12 min.
5. Sprinkle crumbled cookies, nuts or your favourite muesli on top. Eat as long as it is warm.
