Amazing Alpaca, Comely Cashmere, Wonderful Wool & The Marvellous Mrs Mastenbroek ! Good Morning! And how are we feeling? There are a lot of colds around as the season turns so I hope that you have avoided them thus far and that the answer is 'chipper'?! This week the Good Doctor took me to see 'The Joker' which is a very hot ticket with forensic psychiatrists (for obvious reasons!). Although I appreciated that it was extremely well directed, the central performance astonishing and the allegory particularly pertinent,  I did feel rather traumatised by the experience and so dashed home to watch an old episode of Downton Abbey and marvel once again at the furniture! This put me in a rather opulent, snuggly mood - plus my heating came on for the first time (whimpers) - and so I have indulged in some truly sumptuous swag to make us feel just that little bit more prepared for the coming months. Pie-tastic! Beard Behaviour, Regal Robes & Garland Glass! Good Morning! I am writing from bed just before I head off to our SALE! My thanks for all the birthday good wishes - I had a ball. The Good Doctor bought me a recipe book on 'Southern Pies' to remind me of my trip to the U.S. (and probably in the hope that I will get baking!). I have been inspired by the concept of the pie. It is, after all, a historic dish dating back to 9500 BC and is thought to have been brought to Britain by the Ancient Romans. The pie was hugely popular because it is easy to carry and to store and that got me thinking that it is actually still the most versatile of meals. A large pie can be cooked and then the excess frozen for a later date or a slice can be taken to work (or to school) for lunches the following day so it is very economical and time-saving fare.  Shop Now - Emile Henry - Pie Dish 26cm - £29 Of course pies have become much more sophisticated

BORN IN THE USA

BORN IN THE USA Shop Now - Kerosene - Follow (EdP) 100ml - £165.00 After a two week jaunt around the Southern states of America I have returned, once again inspired by the sheer epic proportions of the country and the variety of its cultural influences. The US is currently the hottest ticket in town when it comes to edgy, young fragrance houses and we are very fortunate indeed to house some of the finest at Roullier White. My friend John Pegg, at Kerosene perfumes in Michigan, is a great case in point. I have just picked up a huge batch of his fragrance 'Follow' which is in fact a fragrance of dark roasted coffee, dusted with vanilla, benzoin and amber. At first I didn't understand this scent however our customers have seduced me with the constant wafts of aroma that seep into my office from the Perfumery and I am completely hooked. John tells me that it is the warmth of the scent that plays so well in the chilly temperatures of his native state
