That's Why I'm Drinking Again!

Summer is (almost) officially here and finally we have been lucky with the weather  - I am cautiously optimistic that we are over the worst! We had a really nice, country bank holiday in Kent and visited Knole Park to see the deer and gaze at the house longingly. I met Libby Sackville-West some years ago at a friend's house and, when she said that she lived at Knole, made the faux pas of asking her "how close to the park?" ! She was charming of course but I did feel foolish! As it was a long w/e, we decided to indulge in some cocktails, which is what has inspired this week's missive. I adore cocktails as there are endless possibilities and a degree of creativity involved - plus they are so pretty! We are as adventurous with our cocktails as we are with our food so like to try out new recipes regularly - well I like the recipes; the GD tends to go off-piste (fo

Have you had a good week? It still feels slightly odd out there - I think that until face masks are consigned to the dustbin( yay!), there will always be a visual reminder that things are not quite what they were! The weather has also meant that the High Street has been much quieter than usual in late May which is sad for everyone - it's usually most vibrant, with plenty of sunshine and balmy temperatures tempting customers out and about to enjoy lunch and/or drinks al fresco........however things appear to be improving! On the plus side, I am now fully jabbed so have booked Maria's Tortillas for next Saturday - our first foray into a restaurant (so sad!). I wonder how many bowls of patatas bravas one can order without appearing greedy? I shall begin with two! While I am on the subject of food, I must

What a week it has been! Firstly I must be very British and moan about the weather! The hailstorms were terrifying and biblical, I have been awaiting the frogs and boils! And it's still quite chilly - my central heating has been whirring into action on several occasions which is just wrong for May! Otherwise, it is beginning to feel a lot more 'normal' and, if you avoid the news completely, it is almost 2019 again! We have not yet popped our toes into the bar/restaurant pool as I have decided to wait for my second jab so that at least I know that we have been as careful as we can be - the Good Doctor was vaccinated eons ago, which is as it should be!  In other news, my Mum bought a rather bijoux bungalow on the Downs in Sussex - her garden goes straight onto them, so the vi
